High School with Res Novae Academy

26-27 School Year High School Program

Dear Prospective High School Parents,

High school is not simply about earning credits. It is about forming disciplined thinkers, capable communicators, and responsible young adults prepared to enter the world with competence and clarity.

At Res Novae Academy, we emphasize conservative and libertarian principles: personal responsibility, limited government, individual liberty, respect for tradition, disciplined reasoning, and informed citizenship. Students are taught not only what our constitutional republic is, but why it functions as it does — and what is required to preserve it.

Our educational philosophy blends Charlotte Mason and Classical Education, adapted appropriately for the high school level.

From Charlotte Mason, we continue to emphasize:

  • Living books and primary sources
  • Narration evolving into structured discussion
  • Habit formation and personal discipline
  • Depth of study over superficial coverage

From the Classical model, we prioritize:

  • Logical reasoning
  • Structured argumentation
  • Rhetoric and articulate communication
  • Historical literacy rooted in foundational documents
  • Intellectual clarity before opinion formation

In addition, we intentionally cultivate entrepreneurial thinking and practical competence. High school students are trained to:

  • Think in terms of value creation
  • Solve problems independently
  • Manage time and responsibility
  • Understand economic systems
  • Communicate professionally
  • Take ownership of their academic and personal growth

Entrepreneurship in our program is not about trend-driven startup culture. It is about building initiative, resilience, and real-world capability — whether a student pursues college, skilled trades, military service, business ownership, or the workforce.

We are a fully accredited private school through WASC. Students who complete graduation requirements through Res Novae Academy receive a diploma issued directly by the school.

Our high school program is intentionally structured, academically serious, and designed for families who value responsibility, clarity, and preparation for adulthood.

High school students meet on-site Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:15 PM to 3:15 PM* for structured, teacher-led instruction, discussion, and accountability. *NOTE: this is our anticipated schedule.  Final schedules will be published on/before June 30 and are based on final enrollment numbers.  Should any changes be made, it would be students would meet on Monday & Tuesday in place of Wednesday & Thursday.

Additionally, to accommodate students and families needs, we will consider adding in virtual 1:1 and virtual group learning in place of on-site classes.

Academic Program for the 2026-2027 School Year

Consumer Math: Personal Finance
Curriculum: Beyond Personal Finance
Teens don’t just learn about budgeting—they live it, choosing a career, renting an apartment, buying a car, getting married, investing, and even planning for retirement.   They’ll connect personal choices to real financial outcomes and discover whether their dream lifestyle actually fits their paycheck.  No prerequisite required.

Science: Conceptual Physics
Curriculum: Build Your Education
Students explore motion, forces, energy, waves, electricity, and magnetism. This course emphasizes understanding and reasoning rather than heavy mathematical computation. Students are expected to explain concepts clearly and apply scientific principles thoughtfully. No prerequisite required.

U.S. History & American Government
Curriculum: Modern States
Students study the founding principles of the United States, constitutional structure, federalism, separation of powers, civil liberties, and major historical turning points. Primary documents are central to instruction.

Students may independently apply through the Modern States website to receive a voucher to cover CLEP exam fees. Parents coordinate the voucher application and testing through an approved CLEP testing center. Res Novae Academy provides structured study support; we do not administer CLEP examinations.

Geography: Where in the USA
Curriculum: Build Your Education
Students develop geographic literacy through the study of U.S. regions, physical geography, economic systems, cultural patterns, and the geographic factors that influence history and policy.

Literature: American Literature & Analyzing and Interpreting Literature
Curriculum: Modern States
Students read foundational American works and learn to analyze theme, symbolism, rhetoric, and argument. Structured analytical writing and thoughtful discussion are expected.

Grammar: Composition & Professional Writing
Students will enroll in College Composition through Modern States.  We use this as our base curriculum and build upon it.  The goal is to build proficiency in communication through essay structure, research writing, professional communication, business writing, editing, and revision. Clear writing and disciplined thinking are non-negotiable skills.

Foreign Language: ASL 1
Curriculum: Oklahoma School for the Deaf

Students learn foundational American Sign Language, including alphabet, vocabulary, conversational basics, and cultural awareness within the Deaf community.

Electives

  • PE (Karate) through YKF Karate Studio (off-site/next door)

Our Goal for High School

Our high school program will mirror the traditional route in a lot of ways.

However, Res Novae Academy firmly believes students should leave high school able to stand independently and thrive.  This means we must equip them with knowledge and skills to do so.

Our goal is also to provide students with dual credit opportunities to allow students to obtain both high school and college credits through CLEP and ACE and to be able to sit for such certifications as a project management certification.

By the end of high school, students should be proficient in basic life skills such as financial management (consumer math), conflict resolution, career readiness, project management and more!

Modernstates.org

Res Novae Academy will utilize Modern States' CLEP curriculum for our high school program.

Students will create an account and enroll in the course and provide RNA with copies of completed work, quizzes and tests.

Upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the CLEP test to double as both high school and college credits.

Students will work at home for the Modern States Assignments.

When coming to class with RNA, we will work on projects, discussions and ensure students understand the materials.

Testing

At this time, we are not a testing center for ACT, SAT or other such testing.

We are working on fundraising to have the equipment required to qualify as a testing center.

We will require all students to take both the Mindprint and Star Renaissance Test according to our standard schedule.

What we offer

We will work with each family to determine the goals and needs of each student.

Your students course selection will be according to the students' needs.

Your tuition includes instruction and program mapping of 4 core courses plus electives.

Exception: Denison Algebra is a self-pay program per the publishers' rules.
